2022 Mystics Summit
Program & Replays
Mysticism(s) in a Secular Age
A variety of mystical traditions emerged in our siloed religions prior to modernity. In our scientific, pluralistic, and secular age, inherited mysticism(s) have become a resource and refuge for people in and out of our inherited wisdom traditions. In a lively conversation, Dr. Tripp Fuller explores the changing shape and promise of mysticism(s) in a secular age.
In this session, you’ll discover:
- A big-picture description of our culture's religious/spiritual situation
- An exploration of the changing tension between experience and traditions
- How to see and engage religions as wisdom traditions
Dr. Tripp Fuller
Tripp Fuller is dedicated to bringing the wisdom of the academy out of the ivory tower and into the earbuds of the people. He recently moved home to North Carolina after finishing three years as a postdoctoral research fellow in Theology & Science at the University of Edinburgh. His last book, Divine Self-Investment: a Constructive Open and Relational Christology, was the first book in the studies in open and relational theology series.
For over 14 years Tripp has been doing the Homebrewed Christianity podcast (think on-demand internet radio), where he interviews different scholars about their work so you can get nerdy in traffic, on the treadmill, or doing the dishes. Last year it had over 4 million downloads and over 12k people took one of his online classes. The podcast also inspired a book series called the Home Hombrewed Christianity Guides to... topics like God, Jesus, spirit, church history, etc.
